On Friday, ASIS Int WA organised a Young Professionals event with Curtin University’s Operational Technology (OT) Team, who are responsible for managing and maintaining all things building services technology including electronic security systems used for ensuring a Safe Environment for the whole of the Curtin Community.
The OT Team presented to the Young Professionals some of the challenges they have been facing providing Security to a campus that spans 116 hectares with over 57,000 Students & almost 4,000 Staff & how they not only use the latest Security Technologies to provide a safe user experience but the process and considerations they go through when selecting new solutions. With new developments on campus such as the Curtin Exchange precinct which is expanding the retail and residential presence on campus, the team are currently evaluating new technology solutions to aid with some of the new challenges/ scenarios that are now present. In short, the campus is transforming into a small city environment and this evolving nature requires the team to continuously review new ways of maintaining a safe campus.
