Kim Taylor, Carpenter at TCM Construction Group
I started my career in carpentry by chance, I never thought of a trade as an option. I went to help my brother out who is a carpenter & builder by doing some labouring before Christmas one year and I loved how every day was different, I was outside and doing hands on work. I ended up labouring for him for about a year during that time he kept asking me if I wanted to do my apprenticeship, I laughed it off many times, but as time went on I started getting bored and wanted to learn how to build the beautiful homes we were working on. So I agreed and it’s the best thing I’ve done! It hasn’t been easy at times but I’ve found my passion, it’s a very rewarding jobI’m never bored and there is always something new to learn. I am currently studying the builders course that I should complete this year. I wish I knew doing a trade was an option when I was younger and I’m passionate about getting the word out that trades are an option for anyone!
